Omshtehar Abdullah, a 28-year-old from Zaidiya area, was married in Al Hudaydah Governorate at the age of 11, and two years later, she got her oldest daughter, who is now 13 years old. Then, she got pregnant six times (3 girls – 3 boys) but they all died in the eighth, seventh or sixth month of pregnancy.
She continued to seek treatment and follow up the doctor until she gave birth to 10-month-old Anissa, who suffered from brain atrophy and severe fever.
“Anisa’s grandmother was happy with this fever, which suggests to her that the girl is in good health, as is customary in these areas,” says Omshtehar.
Her husband works as a daily wage laborer and suffers from mental illness, which made him live in the village.
